PLANTINGS BY NEW BRIDGE

October 2017

The Conservancy responded to a request from DOT to provide comments on its planting schedule.    We offered several plant recommendations, most of which were   selected by DOT. They included:   16 Red twig Dogwood, 6 Winterberry, 3 Dwarf River Birch trees, 15 Eastern Ninebark shrubs, and 18 fragrant low growing Sumac.

Your Conservancy works each week to provide  periodic  updates of progress on the construction of our new High Falls Bridge. These can be found  on our Facebook page. And looking for our posts entitled “BRIDGE PROGRESS UPDATE” . Completion date is still set for June 30, 2017.

THE STORIES OF HIGH FALLS SERIES CONTINUES

The “Stories of High Falls” series is gaining momentum, and attracting many long-time residents of the area, and of High Falls, to come and share their stories, many of which are both touching and funny at the same time.   Based on the many topics and stories we have already heard, it is clear that there is more to be learned about our hamlet and its people.

 

HIGH FALLS CO-OP CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY

IRS GRANTS HIGH FALLS CONSERVANCY 501(c)(3) STATUS

On September 8, 2016, the Internal Revenue Service officially notified us of our federal not for profit 501(c)(3) status, effective as of November 4, 2014.

RONDOUT VALLEY BUSINESS ASSOCIATION​

The Conservancy has recently become a member of the Rondout Valley Business Association. We look forward to learning more about the RVBA programs and initiatives, and meeting more business people in our greater Rondout Valley community

CONSERVANCY MEETS WITH GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS

2015/2016

We have met recently with many government officials who have been extremely supportive of the work of the High Falls Conservancy, and who have provided us with much direction and insight. Among these, are Mike Warren, Town Supervisor, Town of Marbletown; Mike Hein, Ulster County Executive, Dennis Doyle, Director, Ulster County Department of Planning, Suzanne Holt, Director, Office of Economic Development, Ulster County; Tim Weidemann, Senior Economic Developer, Ulster County. We have also had much encouragement from our US Congressman, Chris Gibson.
